My Guam History Website didn’t make it to island-wide, but it did make 3rd place. I’m okay with that. I created the website with my partner, Juliette. I think if we had a little more time we would have made it to island-wide. But I’m fine at where I stand.
My website was simple. I think my home page and thesis page was off the hook! I think it was pretty good because of my creative writing skills so that helped a lot.
The challenges of the making of our NHD website was that it was also considered as our 3rd Quarter project so that meant that Juliette and I had to work extra hard. But the biggest challenge for the website was actually getting all the research and plugging all that information into the website and making it sound professional and legitimate in the website.
There were a lot of things I enjoyed about doing this website. Like, for one, I enjoyed having the days spent at MARC for researching and having time away from home. I liked the times after we

The topic of Guam War Reparations is a issue about the nearly three-decade quest to recieve their compensation for when Guam again became a territory of the US after being under the control of the Japanese during World War II.
And, yes, it has been nearly 30 years for Guam’s quest for their compensation and to this day, we still have not recieved our war reparations money.

My partner for this project is Juliette. Our topic for our NHD is “Guam War Reparations.” And the theme for this year’s National History Day is “Debate and Diplomacy: Successes, Failures, Consequences.” The theme is broad enough so that it can be referred to a lot of things. Guam doesn’t have a lot of ideas or concepts, but I’m glad we got the topic we chose.
So you ask, “How does this idea relate to this year’s topic?” Well, this issue on Guam’s war reparations has been going on for nearly the last three decades. It has been a huge issue with Guam and the US because Guam has been the war zone for World War II. The US won the island of Guam back from the Japanese. Now that they have won, now what? What about the people of Guam? How will they get through the ash and smoke? What about the injured? The deceased? How do they get their compensation?
How did they cope? All I know is that they did. The families who have lost loved ones during the war are still mourning to this day.
Every single one of these questions will be featured and answered on our NHD website.
The topic of Guam War Reparations is actually a very interesting one. I say that because it is a very serious issue with the island of Guam. For it has become a very emotional one issue as well. Their a lot of different sides to the story, too, like, people who still want their compensation, and people who say they should just forget about it. If they do it now, it’s too little, too late.

Qualities of a Good Blogger
featuring one of Time Magazine’s Top 10 Bloggers of 2010:
Leo Babauta!!
Leo Babauta is one of Time Magazine’s Top 10 bloggers of the year. He was born here, on the beautiful island of Guam. One of his most famous blogs is called “zenhabits.” You can visit that website here: http://zenhabits.com/
The reason why I bring up and chose Leo Babauta from the list of Top Bloggers is that he’s from Guam. I’m from Guam, so I guess I gravitate more to his ideas and I get him. I get his reasons for moving from Guam to the states. Guam is a nice place and all but, his intentions are good. I actually agree with the guy because I, too, think that Guam is a great place and all, but the States (as we call it here) have more options and opportunities with college and work and all that. Okay, now with that said and done, let’s get down to business, shall we?
One of the qualities of a good blogger is to be updated. Updated meaning, to “be in the know” or to know what’s going on with today’s latest news. For example, the latest gossip on today’s hottest celebrities, or maybe even the latest news on politics. I say this because the blogger can talk, or rather, blog about or maybe even keep other people updated. Another reason, is so that the blogger won’t be told “You’re so late”, or maybe even “That was so last year.” And to do that they should visit newspaper websites or Tiger Beat’s online website. Or be creative and buy a newspaper.
The second one quality of a good blogger is to understand this: “If what your blog doesn’t appeal to you, then it won’t appeal to your audience.” So keep that in mind when you blog.
This quality will not only make you a good blogger, but also, it can help if you are also an aspiring writer. Be a perfectionist. Make your blog seem well-written by going over or proofreading it a few times. This quality can help you become a better writer by making your work be at the most perfect state it could be in. Maybe there might be one part that you can detail more. Or a sentence can be better understood. Or maybe a simple misspelling like writing boogger instead of blogger. How embarrassing would it be to make a post titled: Qualities of a Good Boogger. A simple mistake like that can ruin the most well-written blog posts.
This quality is very crucial to a blogger who wants to make it big. Be yourself. People will read and visit your blog because of your personality. If you’re funny, it can attract readers and maybe those readers can tell their friends about your blog. Then their friends will tell their friends, and those friends will tell their friends, and– well, you get the picture.
And the best quality a good blogger can have? I have to say if you love what you blog about, but not a lot of people think so, then to heck with those people. Do what you love, and love what you do. No matter who likes it or not.
Now that you know the qualities of a good blogger, get out there and become a great blogger. Go on. Run along.

~Should Guam re-evaluate it’s stance on Commonwealth and try once more to change its status from territory to commonwealth? Why or why not?
Well, I think if Guam really wants it then, yes, we should attempt to change our status from territory to commonwealth. But if Guam lost the need or want of having to change its status, then I think Guam should just forget about it. Or, maybe, Guam could play with the idea of changing the status and see if they really still want it. And if by then Guam still really wants to change by then, then I think Guam should really push themselves to change the status.
It really depends on if Guam still whether or not they want to change the status of Guam being a territory and becoming a commonwealth of the United States.
So, I guess it could go either way. But in my opinion, yes! We should push the goverment to make us a commonwealth instead of a territory. I think Guam should be a bigger part of the United States. But, what do I know? Maybe Guam could have another election to whether or not to change Guam from a territory to a part of the 50 states of America.

This blog is about the importance of Creative Commons. The importance of Creative Commons is for people who want to share their work with the world, and not having to plagiarize their work. They allow people to showcase their work and maybe even use it for a project, like me.

The link above is my class survey for my GATE/Tech class. It was our 1st Quarter project.
The most difficult thing about doing this project was actually starting the project, and I am a procrastinator so I don’t usually do assignments right when they are given. I tend to wait until at the last minute, because that’s the way I am. Sometimes I start it and just leave it unfinished, then I would go back right before the day it would be due.
The most easiest thing about it was adding and editing transitions and animations. That was the easiest part because that part was actually fun and all the options were right in front of you. I loved editing the transitions for the slides because I got to see all the different things you could do make it fun and interesting.
From what I learned about my other classmates’ survey was that I had the most cars. And I was like, “What? I do?” That was really cool because I would have thought that other students had more cars, and the majority had at lest two or three. My dad used to be a car salesman and he’s really into cars and out of the three my family has, he has three while my mom and my auntie each have one.

Technology has taken over the world. It’s taken over bookstores with these things called e-books. Or how television was ruled over by movies. And why the newspaper companies are losing money to the Internet. Curse you technology!!
Well… still. Both online and the actual newspapers have their perks. And, then again, they also have their down sides. I’m here to weigh their pros and cons.
So let’s begin!
Let’s work on the online newspapers first. We can start with the pros first then the cons later.
ONLINE NEWSPAPERS:
Pros
Since a lot of people are always on the go and don’t really have the time to get a newspaper. Online newspapers are at your fingertips. It’s faster to get than the actual newspaper where you have to walk in and wait in line then walk back out. So that’s one:
Another pro can be is that it’s free when you go online. And if you like to be in-the-know about current events and all that good stuff then you don’t really have to buy a newspaper everyday when you already have a computer and go online and check it out for free. So there you go:
For my last pro for the online computer is that all the pages are all in their own category where you can click on what you’re looking for and TADA! There it is. It’s not like the regular newspaper where all pages can be taken out or go missing, so there:
Okay, now let’s move on to the cons.
Cons
Well, even though the online newspapers may sound more appealing as I said before, it also has its down sides. One is that when you enter the homepage it focuses on just one article. Almost like the article of the day or “the front page” if you want. It won’t open up like a real newspaper where you can go through the whole newspaper and you got a lot of information. When you’re online all the articles are in their categories and scattered.
Online newspapers are in one place and aren’t separated like the actual newspapers where they are in their own booklet. So, that’s the second con.
And for my last con for the online newspapers will be is that not everybody knows that online newspapers exist and not everyone owns a computer.
Now on that happy note, let’s start on the traditional newspapers..
ACTUAL TRADITIONAL NEWSPAPERS:
As you can see, not all society has left and shunned the old ways of reading a newspaper. Some people actually like the feeling of holding and turning the page of a newspaper. Here are the pros:
Pros
One pro could be is that it’s nice to have and hold a newspaper in your hands. Actually feeling a newspaper gives you a sense of… What’s the word? Maybe a sense of reality. Right? So here’s one:
And here’s one that anyone can agree with. It’s cheap.
